Resident Teacher
The Resident Teacher at Mahasiddha Kadampa Buddhist Centre is Buddhist monk Gen Kelsang Sangdak. Gen Sangdak was born in Namibia. He met his Spiritual Guide, the Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, in England and studied and trained under him at the Madhyamaka Buddhist Centre in York, UK. In August 2000 Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso appointed him Resident Teacher in Durban to establish a Kadampa Buddhist Centre there after having received a request to send a Kadampa Buddhist Teacher to South Africa.
Gen Sangdak has since set up the Mahasiddha Kadampa Buddhist Centre in Malvern, -in the beautiful and scenic suburb of Queensburgh in Durban, just 10 minutes drive from the city (see map for directions).
Before returning to South Africa, Gen Sangdak was teaching Buddhism and Meditation at various places in Yorkshire, UK. His clear, warm and lively teachings present Buddha’s wisdom and compassion in a way that is easy to understand and put into practice.
