Actually Taking Control
through understanding the mind

on Sun 27th January
'08 , 9am - 1pm

taking control

In the search for security and control in our lives we try to control the people and things around us. This often results in our mind feeling vulnerable, anxious and uncomfortable, - we begin feeling tight, rigid and unhappy.

On this course we are learning to understand and control our own mind through the practice of meditation. As a result we come to experience the happiness of inner peace, freedom and flexibility that will then naturally arise from within.

cost: R100  incl. refreshments

please book by calling Tel: 031 464 0984  or email us

Some thinks to think about

In Guide to the Bodhisattvas Way of Life, Shantideva says:

Contemplating again and again
That I have attained this special freedom after a very long time,
I should hold as unmoveable as Mount Meru
The intention to accomplish the real meaning of a human life.

in Advice from  Atishas Heart he says:

Distracting enjoyments have no essence therefore sincerely practice giving.

Since this human life is wasted by indulging in distractions, now is the time to practice concentration.

You will have to depart leaving everything behind, so do not be attached to anything.

in Joyful Path of Good Fortune Geshe-la says:

A child once filled a bowl with dust and offered it to Buddha Kashyapa, imagining the dust was gold. As a result of his pure offering the child was reborn as the wealthy King Ashoka. Likewise, if we offer the world as a Pure Land filled with exquisite objects and precious symbols we shall experience a result in accordance with our offering.

All of Geshe-las books are available for purchase from the Mahasiddha Centre, alternatively come and make use of our library and enjoy some inner peace and a nice cuppa tea.
